ADULT DEPENDENT RELATIVES

Certain adult dependent relatives, residing overseas, may come into the UK to e cared for by a relative in the UK.

Those dependent relatives must be outside the UK to apply and need long-term care from a parent, grandchild, brother, sister, son or daughter who is living permanently in the UK.

Who can sponsor a relative to come to live in the UK ?

The following groups of people in the UK may sponsor their dependent relatives to join them in the UK:
  • British or Irish citizen

The applicants must prove all of the following:
  • They need long-term care to do everyday personal and household tasks because of illness, disability or your age
  • The care they need is not available or affordable in the country they live in
  • The person they will be joining in the UK will be able to support, accommodate and care for them without claiming public funds for at least 5 years

How long can you remain in the UK for ?

This depends on the status of the applicant's UK based family member.

If your family member has the EU Pre-Settled Status (EU PSS)

If your family member has refugee status or humanitarian protection in the UK
